General Questions

What makes Kafila Sisters different from other travel companies?

Kafila Sisters is exclusively for women, by women. Our entire service is designed around the unique needs of female travelers, with female tour guides, women-friendly accommodation arrangements, and a supportive sisterhood environment. We understand what matters to you because we’ve been on this journey ourselves.

Are your packages women-only?

Yes, all our group tours are exclusively for women. This creates a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment where sisters can focus fully on their spiritual journey without concerns.

What is included in the package price?

All packages include return flights from London, accommodation, transfers, breakfast, experienced female tour guides, Ziyarah tours, Zamzam water, and travel documentation support. Specific inclusions vary by package – please check the individual package page for full details.

What is NOT included?

Visa fees (approximately £350 per person), travel insurance, most meals (lunch and dinner), personal expenses, and optional excursions are typically not included. Again check your specific package for details.

Booking & Payment

How do I book an Umrah package?

Simply browse our packages page, choose your preferred option, and submit an enquiry through the package page form. We’ll contact you within 24 hours to discuss your requirements and provide a detailed quote.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! We understand that Umrah is a significant investment. We offer flexible payment plans to make your journey more accessible. Contact us to discuss options that work for your budget.

When should I book?

We recommend booking at least 3-4 months in advance, especially for peak seasons (Ramadan, school holidays). This ensures better flight options, hotel availability, and preferential pricing.

Can I get a refund if I cancel?

Cancellation terms depend on when you cancel and individual supplier policies. We’ll provide full details in your booking Terms & Conditions. We always recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellations.

Travel Requirements

What documents do I need for Umrah?

You’ll need:

  • Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
  • Saudi Arabia Umrah visa
  • Proof of vaccinations (Meningitis ACWY required)
  • Travel insurance

We provide full documentation support and guidance through the application process.

How much does the Saudi visa cost?

The Saudi Umrah visa currently costs approximately £350 per person. This fee is paid directly to the Saudi authorities and is separate from your package price. Fees can change, so we’ll confirm the current cost when you enquire.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for all travelers. We require proof of comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage before your departure.

What vaccinations do I need?

Meningitis ACWY (MenACWY) vaccination is mandatory and must be administered at least 10 days before travel. COVID-19 vaccination requirements may vary – we’ll advise based on current Saudi Arabia entry requirements.

Accommodation & Travel

What is the rooming arrangement?

Our packages are priced based on 4 people sharing a room. We understand this may not suit everyone, so we offer:

  • Private rooms (double, triple, or single) for an additional supplement
  • Solo traveler room-sharing matching service (we’ll try to pair you with another sister)
  • Family/friend group room requests (subject to availability)

Please see our Rooming Policy for full details.

How close are the hotels to the holy sites?

All our hotels are carefully selected for their proximity to the Haram in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. Walking distances vary by star rating:

  • 3-Star: 10-15 minutes walk
  • 4-Star: 5-10 minutes walk
  • 5-Star: Direct Haram/Mosque views, 1-5 minutes walk

Which airport do you fly from?

All our packages include flights from London (typically London Heathrow). We can arrange connections from other UK cities for an additional fee – please enquire for details.

What airline do you use?

We work with reputable airlines including Saudi Airlines, British Airways, and others depending on availability and your travel dates. Specific airline information will be confirmed when you receive your detailed quote.

During Your Journey

Will there be a female tour guide with us?

Yes! Every Kafila Sisters group is accompanied by experienced female tour guides from start to finish. They’ll support you through check-in, transfers, Ziyarah tours, and any questions or needs throughout your journey.

What Ziyarah tours are included?

All packages include comprehensive Ziyarah (historical site) tours in both Makkah and Madinah, led by knowledgeable guides. Sites typically include:

Makkah: Cave of Hira, Jabal Thawr, Mount Arafat, Mina, Muzdalifah, and other historic locations

Madinah: Quba Mosque, Mount Uhud, Qiblatain Mosque, and other significant Islamic sites

How many people are in each group?

We maintain small to medium group sizes (typically 20-40 sisters) to ensure personalized attention and a close-knit community experience.

What should I pack?

All travelers receive a detailed pre-departure pack with a comprehensive packing list. Essentials include modest clothing, comfortable walking shoes, personal medications, and any items for personal comfort. The climate is hot year-round, so light, breathable fabrics are recommended.

Can I perform multiple Umrahs during my stay?

Yes! Especially with our 10-night and 14-night packages, there is ample time to perform multiple Umrahs. Our guides will support you with timings and logistics.

Health & Safety

Is it safe for women to travel alone in your groups?

Absolutely. Your safety is our top priority. You’ll be with a group of fellow sisters and experienced female guides at all times. Our accommodation is carefully vetted for safety and security, and we maintain 24/7 support throughout your journey.

What if I have a medical emergency?

All our tour leaders are trained in first aid. We have 24/7 emergency support, and we’re familiar with local hospitals and medical facilities in both Makkah and Madinah. This is another reason why comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory.

I have mobility issues. Can I still go?

We welcome sisters of all abilities! Please inform us of any mobility concerns when you enquire so we can make appropriate arrangements (wheelchair access, closer accommodation, transport assistance, etc.).

Rooming Policy

At Kafila Sisters, we want to ensure you’re comfortable with your accommodation arrangements. Please read our rooming policy carefully before booking.

Standard Rooming Arrangement

All our packages are priced on a shared room basis. Most group packages assume four people sharing a room (quad occupancy). This is the most economical option and reflects the price shown on our package pages.

Alternative Room Options

We understand that shared rooms may not suit everyone. Alternative arrangements are available for an additional cost:

Private Room Options:

  • Single Room: Private room for one person (highest supplement)
  • Double Room: Room for two people sharing (two beds or one double bed)
  • Triple Room: Room for three people sharing

Important: All private room requests are subject to hotel availability and will incur an additional supplement. We will provide exact pricing when you request a quote for your specific travel dates.

Solo Travelers

If you are travelling solo, we can try to match you with another sister for room sharing. This is done on a best-effort basis and depends on other solo travelers in your group.

Please note: We cannot guarantee a same-age or perfectly compatible room-share match, but we do our best to pair sisters thoughtfully.

Families and Friends

Families and groups of friends traveling together are kept in the same room where possible. Please indicate this clearly when making your enquiry so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

Room Confirmation

All room requests are subject to availability and are only confirmed at the time of booking, not at the enquiry stage. Once you’ve paid your deposit and we’ve secured your hotel reservation, we will confirm your exact room arrangements.

Room Assignments

If you’re sharing a room with fellow group members (not your own family/friends), we aim to assign rooms thoughtfully based on:

  • Age range
  • Travel preferences
  • Any specific requests you’ve made

However, please understand that we cannot guarantee perfect matches in all cases. We encourage a spirit of patience and
